Inside my LGBTQ+ wedding photography styled shoot
Over the past year, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph some really special weddings all across Kent. There’s been quiet, emotional moments, full-on dancefloor chaos, and everything in between. Honestly, it’s been beautiful. I’ve walked away from so many days just feeling full — of gratitude, joy, and sometimes a few happy tears.
But the other week, I was going through my portfolio, just reflecting a bit… and something made me stop.
Among all the stories I’ve had the honour of capturing, I realised I hadn’t yet photographed an LGBTQ+ couple. And that really stuck with me.
I’ve always said I’m an inclusive photographer. That everyone’s welcome. And I mean that, completely. But I also believe that it’s not enough just to say it. People need to see it. They need to know, when they land on my website or scroll through my work, that their love is not just accepted, but celebrated.
So I decided to do something about it.
I put together a styled shoot — kind of like a pretend wedding day, but without the rush or the pressure. Just space to be creative, intentional, and tell a story that matters. And for this one, I was so lucky to work with a real couple, Isabella and Jess.
We started the morning at Pretty Prep Studios in Ashford, where they got ready together — the kind of calm, sweet energy that makes you feel like you’re in the right place. Then we headed to The Secret Garden, which is just as dreamy as it sounds. Soft corners, pretty pathways, and that kind of quiet magic you can’t quite put into words.
And honestly? It was such a joy. The way they looked at each other, the way they laughed and moved and just were — it felt effortless. Real. I barely had to direct a thing. I was just there, quietly capturing something that already existed.
I won’t say too much more here — I really want the photos to do the talking.
But I came home from that day feeling lit up. And really hopeful.
Because this is just the beginning. I want more of this. I want more love stories like Isabella and Jess’s in my portfolio. I want people to know, without a doubt, that whoever you are and whoever you love — you belong here.
So if you’re planning a wedding, whether it’s a big celebration or something small and personal, and you’re looking for someone to gently guide you and capture your day with care — I’d truly love to be part of it.
Your love is worth celebrating. Just as it is.
